Cap 7 Ponte en su lugar
I agree with Savater when he says that when you put into people's shoes, not only do you have to consider their reasons, but also you should take part in their passions and feelings, in their pains, wishes and joys.
I think that we, as teachers-to-be, should never forget sympathizing with each one of our students. Each student is different from the rest and consequently, has his or her own reasons, feelings, conflicts, abilities, etc., that is to say, his or her own world. So we should make our students feel that they can rely on us to help them whenever there is a problem. They´ll feel better and we´ll, without doubt, achieve better results in their learning.
No sabía bien qué decir. Me sentía muy torpe. No sabía cómo llegar a él, dónde encontrarlo...¡Es tan misterioso el país de las lágrimas...!
"El Principito" - Saint-Exupéry
We as teachers-to-be will have to be able to comprehend and help our students. It's no easy, I'm afraid but it's worth trying.

Hi Lili,
Something strange and funny happened to me. I started working at the secondary school I used to study. But now 'I'm on the other side'. I'm no longer a student but a teacher in the same rooms I used to study -actually I was a bit lazy, so where I used to lay on the bench, lol.
At the teacher's room I feel even more strange because some of the teachers who taught me are still working there. I entered the room and I didn't know how to call them Profesora Lopez, or Rita or whoever.
I'm experimenting a new pair of shoes...
Pame =P
How important not to forget the pairs of shoes we have walked in as we start trying new ones... Wouldn't you agree, Lili and Pamela?
I just LOVED your quote, Liliana! If we could play the role of the narrator with all the "little princes" within our learners!!!
Too moved to keep asking questions! (yes, you've managed to make me speechless!!! ;-)!)
Love,
Gladys
Hi Gladys,
Yes, it helps a lot to really fit in other people´s shoes, especially in our students´ones.
I´d be content just with writing a few pages!
Hugs,
Lili
