An overwhelming urge

Why does Rita want to study?

Rita is determined to study in order to change her life for the better as she is fed up with her ordinary life.
She is aware of the fact that she is at a great disadvantage as regards educated people who don't worry about trivial things but those things which deserve to be worried about, just because they know how to differentiate them.
Besides, she feels that educated people can enjoy life better than her. For example, she is not able to enjoy an opera, a ballet or a good book because she doesn't understand them though she would like to.
So, she wants to know everything about reality and about herself and she realizes that the only way to do it is through education.
She also realizes that appearance shoud be in accordance with the person inside her to look properly.

Hi Lili!

As the educated person you are, I'd like to ask you:

1. Is it true that you (and your schoolmates and teachers, for that matter)worry just about "those things which deserve to be worried about", simply because you all "know how to differentiate them"? If so, how did you get to know? Or is it a genetic ability?

2. What do you mean by "look properly"? And who decides what's "proper"?

Happy blogging,
Gladys

Hi Gladys,

Well, sometimes we worry about everything because we do not realize them but if we think according to what we have learnt, I mean logically, it may help to differentiate which things deserve to worry about or not.
I tried to explain what Rita felt, that is, her appearance should reflect the person inside her. To her, there should be a certain coherence which means "proper".
Of course you decide what's proper and in this case Rita does.

Hugs,
Lili
